Community Involvement

Our Caring

Building Better Communities

American Cement Company is dedicated to building strong communities and making a positive difference where we live and work. We are actively involved in our communities through contributions, partnerships, and volunteerism.

At American Cement Company, we provide the opportunity and encourage our employees to donate their time to both local and national philanthropic organizations, outreach programs, and other charitable functions. This gives our team members the opportunity to positively impact others and improve their own well-being.

American Cement Company Blood Drive

Throughout the year the American Cement Company partners with the American Red Cross for a local blood drive. All of our employees come out to show support and give blood. With the recent shortage of blood supply,  many American Cement Company employees donated two units of red cells during a single double red cell donation. It brings us great pride that our employees choose to make a difference in other’s lives.

Adopt-A-Highway

Our surroundings are extremely important to American Cement Company, so we take the time throughout the year to clean up our local highway. Our employees will volunteer their time over a weekend to join in on the fun and help pick up the debris left alongside County Road 470.

 Education

Education is the utmost importance to American Cement Company. We involve ourselves in various philanthropic acts concerning teaching and culturing students. Our company contributed 4,000 pounds of cement to students at the University of South Florida for research projects and class studies.

American Cement Company provided school supplies to guarantee students in the Sumter County School District had the tools and resources necessary to succeed in the classroom. Although it is extremely important to donate physically demanded items, we feel donating our time is equally as vital.

American Cement Company employees reached out to a local high school to participate in their annual Science Fair. Our Laboratory department offered their workspace to local students and teachers, while several employees volunteered their time to judge the Science Fair. We feel it is essential to foster the minds of our youth because they are our future.

Cancer Research

American Cancer Society’s – Relay for Life

As a strong advocate in supporting cancer research, American Cement Company employees have participated in the Sumter County’s Relay for Life program. This 16 hour event brought our employees together to show support for those who have lost a loved one to cancer, who currently battle cancer and for those who have won the fight against cancer.

American Cement Company was excited to participate in the 2012 Relay for Life event in Sumter County. It was a great way for our employees and their families to come together for a great cause. Seeing the smiles and laughter from all the participants was a great way to bring cheer and happiness to those who have battled this disease. American Cement Company was thrilled with this year’s turnout and the support of so many people. Our employees and family members were determined to make a difference in the community and show support for this worthy cause.

Thanksgiving Food Drive

There are almost 1000 homeless people in Lake County alone and it is on the rise.  Unemployment is in the double-digits, charitable giving is down and credit problems are hitting working families once immune to financial fluctuations.

We don’t want any family to go without a meal during the Holiday season.  American Cement Company collects non-perishable food and toiletries during the month of November for donation to the Leesburg Baptist Church’s Benevolence Center.

Every year, departments “pound it out” to collect the most weight in donations.  The department who brings in the greatest weight receives the Golden Giver Award.  This year, employees collected over 2,200 lbs.
